Briarcrest Students Spend a Day of Service at Grahamwood
Principal Pete Johnson during his tenure at Grahamwood Elementary has played a crucial role in forging numerous public-private partnerships between the school and community organizations for the mutual benefit of both. One long-standing partnership is between Grahamwood Elementary and Briarcrest High School. Each year, Briarcrest High School students commit to a day of community service. As a part of this commitment, Briarcrest students spend a day at Grahamwood.
“I began this partnership with the support of a colleague of mine Eric Sullivan, Principal of Briarcrest High School,” states Johnson. “I appreciate how this ongoing partnership between our two schools, one public and one private, has faculty and students working hand-in-hand on projects that benefit both of our educational needs.”
This year, 20 Briarcrest students chose Grahamwood where they helped teachers with classroom projects, created hallway displays, mentored students, and as a bonus participated in our literacy promoting Book Character Sock-Hop. A great day of learning, fun, and the making of new friends was had by all!
