Briarcrest Students Do a Day of Service at Grahamwood
Pete Johnson during his tenure as principal at Grahamwood Elementary has played a crucial role in forging public-private partnerships between the school and community organizations. One long-standing partnership is between Grahamwood Elementary and Briarcrest High School. Each year, Briarcrest High School students commit to a day service at Grahamwood. “I began this partnership with the support of a colleague of mine Eric Sullivan, Principal of Briarcrest High School,” states Johnson. “I appreciate how this ongoing relationship between our two schools has faculty and students working together on projects that benefit both of our students.” This year, over a dozen Briarcrest students visited Grahamwood where they assisted teachers with classroom projects, created hallway displays, mentored students, and as a bonus helped chaperoned our annual Book Character Sock-Hop. A grand day of learning, fun, and making new friends was had by all!
